Complications after Epicardial Permanent Pacemaker Implantation and Nursing: A 68-case Study

Abstract: Objective To summarize the nursing experience of complications after epicardial permanent pacemaker implantation in 68 children. Methods Clinical data of 68 children undergoing epicardial permanent pacemaker implantation in our hospital from January 2015 to December 2019 were reviewed and the complications after implantation and its nursing were analyzed. Results Complications were found in 17 cases, with 2 cases of pocket infection, 1 of incision infection, 1 of pleural effusion and 12 of electrode dysfunction. All the patients discharged with the improvement of complications after targeted treatment. Conclusion Complications including poor wound healing, infection and electrode dysfunction are found after epicardial permanent pacemaker implantation. Postoperative observation and preventive nursing are conducive to reducing the incidence of complications and enhancing the recovery of the children.
