Best evidence summary for early enteral nutrition management in adults with severe burns

Abstract: Objective To summarize the best evidence for early enteral nutrition management in adult patients with severe burns. Methods Literature on early enteral nutrition in adult patients with severe burns were systematically searched from domestic and foreign databases and related professional websites and the retrieval time spanned from January 2013 to July 2024. Literature quality evaluation and evidence extraction were conducted independently by 4 researchers. Results Totally 24 articles were collected, including 6 systematic reviews, 3 expert consensus, 6 guidelines, 1 clinical decision, and 8 evidence summaries, and 27 pieces of best evidence were summarized in 5 areas of organization and management, comprehensive evaluation, nutrition plan, complication management, and effect evaluation. Conclusion This study summarizes the best evidence for early enteral nutrition management in adult patients with severe burns, hoping to provide an evidence-based reference for early enteral nutrition intervention for adult patients with severe burns.
