Evaluation of allocation of nursing human resource in Guangdong Province based on entropy weight TOPSIS combined with RSR method

Abstract: Objective To comprehensively evaluate allocation of nursing human resource in Guangdong Province in 2022, and to provide references for policy formulation and improvement. Methods The evaluation employed a combination of entropy weight-TOPSIS and rank sum ratio (RSR) method to assess allocation of nursing human resource across 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province. Results The coefficient of variation for the number of registered nurses per thousand population and the nurse-to-bed ratio in these cities was 24%. The regression equation with Ci as the dependent variable and Probit as the independent variable was Ci=-0.665+0.218Probit, with R2=0.960. Based on the RSR results, the 21 cities in Guangdong Province were classified into three categories, with Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Dongguan identified as having optimal nursing human resource allocation. Conclusion The overall allocation of nursing human resources in Guangdong Province is good, but regional disparities exist. Relevant departments need to formulate scientifically sound regional policies for nursing human resource allocation tailored to local conditions.
