Abstract: Objective To systematically evaluate the maternal experience of perinatal death. Methods Qualitative research on maternal experience of stillbirth and perinatal death events in CNKI,Wanfang database,VIP,PubMed,Web of Science,Medline,Wiley and EMbase database were searched by computer from the inception to March 2020.After quality evaluation of the literature, the meta-ethnography methods of Noblit and Hare's was used to analyze and summarize the literature. Results Sixteen articles were included. One core concept of seeking hope in painful despair is extracted based on the following four themes:prominent negative emotion demonstrated by silent pain and severe physical and mental pressure;coping strategies for inner torture;rebuilding the world:the change and growth of mother's life;future dawn:desire for respect and care and full of hope for the future. Conclusion Perinatal death is not only a medical issue, but also a social problem.Attaching importance to psychological changes of mothers, and providing emotional support for mothers will promote the reconstruction of mothers'life.
