Problems in Teaching Design of Nursing Courses with High-fidelity Simulation Scenario and Its Countermeasures

Abstract: Objective To expound the problems existing in teaching design of nursing courses with high-fidelity simulation(HFS) scenario in China through the review of domestic and foreign literatures, and proposes corresponding countermeasures. Methods The domestic and foreign literatures were reviewed, and the models, the shortcomings and countermeasures of HFS scenario teaching were reviewed. Results In the implementation of HFS scenario teaching in China, there were insufficient preparations of teachers, students and laboratories, inadequate degree of simulation of the scenarios, insufficient use of HFS systems, inadequate implementation time of scenario simulation and no unified assessment for teaching effect and ability. We put forward some corresponding countermeasures. Teaching objectives and participant needs were the basis of teaching design; teachers, students and cases should be in full preparation; students should be familiar with situational cases in advance. All these helped to improve teaching efficiency, ensure the HFS, and unify the evaluation criteria and methods for the teaching. Conclusion Although there are still some shortcomings in the HFS scenario teaching in China, it still has great potential in future nursing teaching. It will definitely be an important development direction to promote the development of nursing education and lead the reform of nursing teaching.
