Abstract: Objective To summarize the best evidence for the prevention and management of corneal abrasions in patients under general anesthesia for non-ocular surgery, and to provide evidence-based evidence for clinical practice of medical staff. Methods We searched UpToDate, BMJ-best practice, ClinicalKey, NICE, SIGN, AHRQ, GIN, RANO, Medlive, WHO, American Society of Anesthesiology, Chinese Nursing Association, Cochrane Library, JBI, CINAHL, OVID, PubMed, Embase, WOS, Wiley, CNKI, CBM and Wanfang Data with computer for the evidence pertaining to the prevention and management of corneal abrasions in patients under general anesthesia for non-ocular surgery. The retrieval period was from the inception to November 2022. Results Twelve piece of literature were collected, including 4 clinical decisions, 2 guidelines, 4 systematic reviews and 2 RCTS. A total of 22 pieces of best evidence were integrated into 5 aspects of risk assessment, preventive measures, management measures, monitoring/follow-up, and education and training, etc. Conclusion The best evidence for the prevention and management of intraoperative corneal abrasions in patients with non-ocular surgery can provide practical reference for clinical medical staff. Taking clinical environment of the department into consideration, medical staff could apply the best evidence to prevent or manage the occurrence and development of corneal injury in a scientific way, and ultimately improve nursing quality.
