Abstract

Objective To assist researchers in understanding the development process of evidence summary in Joanna Briggs Institute evidence-based healthcare center, and to improve the standardization of evidence summary development and writing. Methods The core content of evidence summary development process of Joanna Briggs Institute evidence-based healthcare centre was interpreted and analyzed with case studies to examine key precautions and common misconceptions in the development process. Results Eight steps in the development process, including question/topic development, structured search of the literature, literature selection, quality assessment, evidence integration, peer review, feedback incorporated and resource uploaded were thoroughly outlined and explained. Conclusion The process provides reference for the rigorous and standardized development and writing of evidence summary. It is recommended to further enhance the transparent reporting in the stage of evidence translation and proofreading, evidence grading, and recommendation formulation, and to improve the process of peer review, evidence publication and dissemination.
