Abstract: Objective To examine the measurement invariance of Chinese version of Breast Cancer Self-efficacy Survivors between smartphone-based and paper-based data collection. Methods By convenience sampling, 302 breast cancer patients of a tertiary grade A hospital in Shanghai were investigated by a self-designed general information questionnaire and Chinese version of Breast Cancer Self-efficacy Survivors, of which 145 cases were investigated by smartphone and 157 by paper. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the measurement invariance. Result All statistical indices/ indicators of baseline model, configural invariance model, metric invariance model, and scalar invariance model had met the statistical requirements, which indicated good model fit. Conclusion The findings show that the Chinese version of Breast Cancer Self-Efficacy Survivors is of strong measurement invariance. Researchers could choose proper way to collect and merge the data based on the needs.

Key words: measurement invariance, multi-group confirmatory factor analysis, self-efficacy, breast cancer
