Current Status of Family Resilience of Caregivers of Patients with Congenital Pseudarthrosis of the Tibia and Its Influence Factors: A 364-case Study

Abstract: Objective To survey the current status of family resilience of caregivers of children patients with congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT) and its influence factors. Methods With convenience sampling method, the main caregivers of 364 children with CPT treated in a tertiary grade A children's hospital in Hunan Province were surveyed by using general information questionnaire, Chinese Family Resilience Assessment Scale and Posttraumatic Growth Inventory. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation between family resilience and posttraumatic growth. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of family resilience. Results Family resilience score of caregivers of children with CPT was 130.35±12.53. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the relationship between caregivers and children, the age of caregivers and the level of posttraumatic growth were the influencing factors of family resistance in caregivers of children with CPT (P<0.05). Conclusion The family resilience of caregivers of children with congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia is at a relatively low level. Families with father as the caregiver, those with older children and those with better post-traumatic growth may have better family resilience. Importance attached to mental health and emotional changes of caregivers and targeted health education are conducive to enhancing family resilience and the rehabilitation of children.
