Current status of psychological resilience of caregivers of patients with maintenance hemodialysis and its influencing factors: a 220-case study

Abstract: Objective To investigate the current status of 220 caregivers of patients with maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) and to analyze its influencing factors. Methods With convenience sampling, 220 caregivers of MHD patients from a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou were selected from January to March 2022 and investigated by using general information questionnaire, Connor- Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC), Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview (ZBl). Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of psychological resilience. Results The total score of psychological resilience of caregivers of MHD patients was 64.91±8.40. Multiple linear regression showed that sleep disorder, care burden, sex, average household income and educational background entered the regression equation（P<0.05）, accounting for 27.9% of the total variation. Conclusion Psychological resilience of caregivers of MHD patients is at a medium level, and sleep quality and care burden are major influencing factors of psychological resilience of caregivers. Targeted interventions, and humanistic care for caregivers of MHD patients are conducive to promoting their psychological resilience.
