Abstract: Objective To explore the potential categories and influencing factors of psychological resilience and its impact on adaptive performance among junior nurses, and to provide reference for improving the level of psychological resilience and adaptive performance of junior nurses. Methods A total of 6,704 junior nurses from 90 tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province were selected as the research objects, and they were investigated using the General Information Questionnaire, Resilience Scale-14, and Adaptive Performance Scale. A latent profile model was developed based on latent profile analysis with Mplus 8.3, and statistical description and analysis were conducted using SPSS 26.0. Results Four latent categories emerged: Low Ability-Negative Cognition (5.9%), General Ability-Positive Cognition (40.2%), Medium-High Ability-Calm Coping (43.3%), and High Ability-Strong Will (10.6%). Some demography data (occupational exposure history, sleep quality, exercise and chronic diseases) had predictive effects on the latent profiles of junior nurses, and the level of resilience could positively predict adaptive performance (P<0.05). Conclusion There is heterogeneity in psychological resilience of junior nurses, and four latent categories are identified as Low Ability-Negative Cognitive, General Ability-Positive Cognition, Medium-High Ability-Calm Coping, and High Ability-Strong Will; the adaptive performance of the type of “Low Ability-Negative Cognitive” is the lowest, which needs to be paid attention to. Occupational exposure history, sleep quality, exercise and chronic diseases are the influencing factors of the potential categories of resilience of junior nurses, and resilience is an important predictor of adaptive performance.
