Construction of Extending Nursing Program for Family Caregivers of Stroke Patients Based on Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model

Abstract: Objective To construct an extending nursing program for family caregivers of stroke patients based on Information-Motivation-Behavioral (IMB) Skills Model, and to provide reference for extending nursing intervention for family caregivers of stroke patients. Methods The IMB Skills Model was used as the theoretical framework, and the draft program was formed combined with relevant practical guidelines and literature analysis. Delphi method was used to conduct two rounds of correspondence consultation with 15 experts, and the indicators at all levels were screened and modified. Results Recovery rate of the two rounds of expert consultation was 100%; expert’s authority coefficient 0.893, and 0.906; expert’s coordination coefficient 0.348, and 0.312, respectively (all P<0.001). The final program consisted of 3 first-level, 13 second-level and 52 third-level indicators. Conclusion The program constructed in this study is scientific and feasible, and it can provide reference for improving the nursing ability of family caregivers of stroke patients and promoting the development of extending nursing for stroke patients.
