Current Status of Dating Violence among Vocational Nursing Students and Its Influence Factors

Abstract: Objective To understand the current status of dating violence among vocational nursing students and analyze its influence factors.Methods Totally 688 vocational nursing students were selected from four vocational colleges in Heilongjiang via convenience sampling method,and were surveyed by self-designed general information questionnaire,Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale and Scale of College Students Suffered form Dating Violence.Results Totally 688 valid questionnaires were collected and 335 vocational nursing students suffered from dating violence,with a prevalence of 48.70%.The top three non-violent actions included “confirming the communication objects through checking the mobile phone,personal website,etc”,“rubbing,pinching or pinching each other”and “attacking with hands or other objects”.Multiple logistic regression showed that alcohol history,witnessing violence or beatings during parents quarrel and emotional intelligence were the major influential factors(P<0.05) and emotional intelligence was its protective factor.Conclusion The prevalence of dating violence among vocational nursing students was at a high level,and perception of dating violence is poor.Alcohol history,witnessing violence or beatings during parents quarrel and emotional intelligence were the major influential factors.Elective courses or lectures on dating violence as early as possible is conducive to helping nursing students know more about dating violence and reducing the incidence of dating violence among nursing students,thus avoiding its adverse consequences.
