Current Status of Decisional Conflict of Family Members of Patients with Intracranial Tumors and Its Influencing Factors: A 222-case Study

Abstract: Objective To investigate the current status of decisional conflict of family members of patients with intracranial tumors and analyze its influencing factors. Methods With convenience sampling method, 222 family members of patients with intracranial tumors were selected from 3 tertiary grade-A hospitals in Urumqi from September 2021 to February 2022. They were investigated by general information questionnaire, the Decisional Conflict Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale and the General Self-Efficacy Scale. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of decisional conflict of family members of patients with intracranial cancers. Results The total score of decisional conflict of family members of patients with intracranial tumors was 34.74±14.38. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that patients' tumor type and family members' economic stress, frequency of discussion with medical staff, perceived social support and self-efficacy entered the regression equation (P<0.05), which explained 33.5% of the total variation. Conclusion The decisional conflict of family members of patients with intracranial tumors is at the lower-middle level. Patients' tumor type and family members' economic stress, frequency of discussion with medical staff, perceived social support and self-efficacy are the main influencing factors of decisional conflict. Personalized and targeted medical decision aids are conducive to improving family members' confidence in decision making and reducing their level of decisional conflict.
