Abstract: Objective To develop a questionnaire of knowledge, attitude and practice of hypoglycemia for medical staff and test its reliability and validity. Methods Based on Knowledge, Attitudes, Beliefs, and Practices (KABP) model, the initial draft of the questionnaire was developed after literature review and expert letter inquiry with Delphi method. Totally 1,215 doctors and nurses of a tertiary grade A hospital in Xi’an were investigated with the questionnaire, and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were further tested to form a final version. Results The final questionnaire consisted of 23 items in 3 dimensions of knowledge, attitude and practice. Exploratory factor analysis showed that cumulative variance contribution rate was 61.501% and the total content validity 0.890. Cronbach α coefficient of the total scale was 0.882 and that of each dimension ranged from 0.769 to 0.934. The split-half reliability coefficient of the total scale was 0.872 and that of each dimension ranged from 0.788 to 0.916. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that each value fitted well, indicating good fitting of the questionnaire. Conclusion The questionnaire has good reliability and validity. It can be used as a research tool to evaluate the current situation of knowledge, attitude and behavior of hypoglycemia in medical staff.
