Abstract: Objective To investigate the needs and influence factors of extended nursing for patients with cardiac pacemakers. Methods With convenient sampling method, patients with pacemaker implantation were selected from January 2015 to January 2019 in the cardiology department of a tertiary grade A hospital in Shandong Province, and entering into the “cardiac pacemaker follow-up group” by scanning the two-dimensional code. A total of 325 patients were enrolled in the study and they were investigated by using a self-designed questionnaire of extended nursing needs of patients with cardiac pacemakers. Results The total score of extended nursing need was 4.40±0.39. Of the total, 92% of the patients expected extended nursing from multidisciplinary teams and 44.3% expected extended nursing once a month. Multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that implantation time, age, education background and income were factors that affected the patient's extended nursing needs. Conclusion Patients with cardiac pacemakers have strong need for extended nursing. Patients with different implantation time, age, education background and income have different needs for extended nursing thus individualized extended nursing for different patients are expected.
