Anchor-based teaching combined with Gibbs' reflective cycle in training for nurse specialists in Operating Room

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of anchor-based teaching combined with Gibbs' reflective cycle in the training for operating room nurse specialists. Methods Cluster sampling method was used to select 78 nurses who participated in the training for operating room nurse specialists in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Nurses in 2022 and 2023 were divided into control group (n=38) and experimental group (n=40), respectively. The experimental group received anchor-based teaching combined with Gibbs' reflective cycle in the training, while the control group conventional teaching method. After training, the effect of two teaching methods was evaluated using theoretical test, practice test and a survey by using a self-designed questionnaire. Results The score of theoretical and practice test of the experimental group was 88.33±3.53 and 89.38±2.42, respectively, and that of the control group 83.50±3.45 and 86.76±3.18 respectively, indicating statistical significance (P<0.05). The teaching effect of the experimental group was better than that of the control group. Conclusion Anchor-based teaching combined with Gibbs' reflective cycle is helpful to improve students' theoretical knowledge and clinical practical competence, and cultivate students' self-learning ability and problem solving ability. The training effect is superior to that of traditional teaching.
