Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of nursing round based on Stetler's evidence-based practice model in the training of nurses' core competence. Methods Forty-four nurses from the 1st and 3rd unit of oncology department, and department of thoracic surgery from December 2020 to August 2021 were selected as the research objects, and they participated in evidence-based nursing rounds based on the Stetler evidence-based practice model. The nurses' core competence and evidence-based practice knowledge, belief and practice (KAP), and nurses' satisfaction with evidence-based nursing rounds were compared. Results After the implementation of evidence-based nursing round, the score of ability of critical thinking/scientific and research, clinical nursing, leadership, interpersonal relationship, legal/ethical practice, professional development, education/consultation and the total score were improved. Except the score of the dimension of legal/ethical practice, that of other dimensions was statistically significant (P<0.05); the score of evidence-based KAP, and the total score were higher and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Ninety percent of the nurses were satisfied with the evidence-based nursing round. Conclusion Nursing round based on Stetler's evidence-based practice model can improve the core competence of nurses and their KAP. It is highly recognized by nurses and is worthy of clinical application.
