Status Quo of Innovative Behavior of Clinical Nurses and Its Influence Factors: A 1,386-case Study

Abstract: Objective To investigate the status quo of clinical nurses' innovative behavior and analyze its influence factors. Methods From September to October 2020, 1,386 clinical nurses from a tertiary grade-A hospital in Nanjing were selected by using convenience sampling method and a survey was conducted by using general information questionnaire, the Nurse Innovative Behavior Scale, the Information Literacy Scale, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and the Evidence-based Nursing Competence Scale. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influence factors of clinical nurses' innovative behavior. Results The total score of clinical nurses' innovative behavior was 33.15±6.07. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that information literacy, work engagement and competence in evidence-based nursing entered the regression equation (P<0.01), explaining 46.3% of the total variation. Conclusion Innovative behavior of clinical nurses in this group is at a medium level. Information literacy, work engagement and competence in evidence-based nursing are the main influencing factors of innovative behavior. Corresponding training programs, humanistic care and multidisciplinary cooperation are conducive to improving the innovative behavior.
