Post-traumatic Growth and Related Factors of Stroke Patients in China and Abroad: A Systematic Evaluation

Abstract: Objective To systematically summarize the literature on post-traumatic growth (PTG) of stroke patients in China and abroad and its related factors. Methods Based on the Cochrane Collaborative Network Work Manual, we searched the literature on PTG of stroke patients in databases including the Cochrane Library, the JBI database, Web of Science, PubMed, EMbase, CINAHL, CNKI, WanFang Data, VIP, SinoMed, and Baidu Scholar from the inception to December 31, 2020. Two researchers independently screened and extracted the data. The Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) was used to assess the paper quality. After quality assessment, we systematically summarize the related studies. Results Twenty-one studies were finally included. According to the functional description model of post-traumatic growth and our previous research, the related factors could be grouped into internal and external individual factors. Conclusion The existing results indicate that the overall level of PTG in stroke patients is moderate. Further theoretical and longitudinal studies are needed to provide high-quality evidence and medical staff can use the evidence to develop effective strategies for PTG.
