Abstract: Objective To understand the current situation of the transformational leadership of head nurses in hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Anhui Province, and analyze its influencing factors, and to provide reference for improving the management efficiency of head nurses. Methods A total of 873 head nurses from 56 TCM hospitals in Anhui Province were selected by convenient sampling, and they were investigated by using the general information questionnaire, head nurses' transformational leadership self-evaluation scale and head nurses' core competence evaluation scale. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of head nurses' transformational leadership. Results The score of transformational leadership of head nurses in TCM hospitals was 109.43±12.40. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that hospital grade, nursing management ability, interpersonal relationship ability, nursing research ability and nursing education ability entered the regression equation (P<0.001), explaining 53.0% of the total variation. Conclusion Transformational leadership of head nurses in TCM hospitals is above the average. Nursing management ability, interpersonal relationship ability, nursing research ability, nursing education ability and hospital grade are the influencing factors of transformational leadership. It is suggested that hospital managers should attach importance to the cultivation of head nurses' core competence, promote head nurses' transformational leadership, and take effective measures to evaluate and track the improvement effect of transformational leadership, so as to improve the quality of nursing.
