Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of dialect video education combined with teach-back method in the rehabilitation of elderly patients after total hip arthroplasty. Methods Eighty cases of elderly patients who underwent primary unilateral total hip replacement due to femoral neck fracture were randomly divided into control group and experimental group, with 40 cases in each group. Routine postoperative health education was implemented for the two groups, and additional dialect video education combined with teach-back method for the experimental group. Results The compliance of functional exercise, the satisfaction with nursing care and postoperative Harris hip score of the experimental group were better and higher than those of the control group 1 week, 1 month and 3 months after the operation (P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of dialect video education and teach-back method could promote patients' compliance of functional exercise after total hip arthroplasty, thereby improve the function of the hip joint and patient satisfaction.

Key words: dialect video education, teach-back method, elderly, total hip arthroplasty, the compliance of functional exercise, function of the hip joint
