Abstract: Objective To construct a cultural sensitivity-based palliative care program for children with cancer, and to provide reference for the development of palliative care for children with cancer. Methods Through literature content analysis, a draft palliative care plan for pediatric cancer patients based on cultural sensitivity was formulated. Twenty experts were invited to carry out 2 rounds of expert correspondence for the further revision of the program. Results In the second round of expert correspondence, the expert judgment basis, expert familiarity, and expert authority coefficient were 0.95, 0.89, and 0.93, respectively. The final version of the palliative care program for children with cancer consisted of 5 first-level indicators (co-decision-making, symptom management, hospice education for children, supportive care for caregivers, and continuum of care), 17 second-level indicators, and 42 third-level indicators, The importance score of each item was all >3.5; the coefficient of variation 0~0.20, and the expert Kendall’s harmony coefficient (W) 0.093 (P<0.001). Conclusion The palliative care program for children with cancer based on cultural sensitivity has good scientific and clinical significance, showing full respects for children and their families with different cultural background. It can provide reference for palliative care for children with cancer.
