Current Status of Recommendation of Low-quality Evidence in Chinese Nursing Practice Guidelines

Abstract: Objective To analyze the current status of strong recommendation of low-quality evidence in Chinese nursing practice guidelines. Methods We retrieved nursing practice guidelines from July 28, 2010 to July 28, 2020 in databases of CMB, CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP and Nursing Resources Center of Fudan University, and a manual supplementary search was carried out for the references included in the literature. Independent screening and data extraction were performed by 2 evaluators according to the inclusion criteria. Results Sixteen guidelines were included in this study, and a total of 778 recommendations were formed, among which 256 (32.9%) items with low/very low evidence quality were strongly recommended, and 40.0%(6/15) items with low/very low quality were strongly recommended, accounting for more than 50% of the total recommendations. Conclusion Although we have made great progress in terms of the quality of clinical nursing practice guidelines in China, the quality and intensity of recommendations still need to be further standardized.
