Abstract: Objective To summarize the best evidence for the prevention and management of urinary retention after radical resection of cervical cancer and to improve the quality of clinical care. Methods With JBI Practical Application of Clinical Evidence System(JBI PACES), after localizing the best evidence from previous studies, we applied the evidence in gynecologic oncology ward, and the incidence of postoperative urinary retention and catheter-related urinary tract infections, residual urine volume, patient satisfaction and quality review, cognition of prevention and management of urinary retention in nurses before and after the application of the evidence were compared. Results After the application of the best evidence, the incidence of urinary retention decreased from 72.5% to 52.3%;that of catheter-related urinary tract infectionfrom 52.5% to 32.6% and the residual urine volume from （180.14±66.36）mL to （137.44±52.31）mL. Patients' satisfaction increased from (92.29±6.25) point to (96.78±3.30) point and there was statistical significance incognition of prevention and management of urinary retention in nurses (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of the best evidence for postoperative urinary prevention and management in patients with cervical cancer in clinical practice is effective for standardizingthe behavior of medical staff and reducing the incidence of urinary retention.
