Experience of Male HIV/AIDS Patients with Case Management in Clinic: A Qualitative Study

Abstract: Objective To investigate HIV/AIDS patients' experience and needs of case management and provide reference for targeted measures. Methods A semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted with 16 HIV/AIDS patients in clinic and data were analyzed by Colaizzi phenomenological analysis method. Results Through analysis and refinement, five themes on experience of case management were extracted including information support,antiviral drug guidance, psychological support and counseling, adaptive growth and future expectations. Conclusion In the procedure of HIV case management, HIV/AIDS patients received a variety of disease-related knowledge and medication guidance, and the feeling of being understood and cared about, helping them insist on long-term treatment of the disease. Case management plays a positive role in the holistic care of HIV-infected patients. It is necessary to pay attention to the patients' physiological, social and psychological needs and continuously optimize the case management service.
