Abstract: Objective To explore the triage and epidemic prevention of COVID-19, and further improve the infection prevention and control in COVID-19-designated hospitals. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis study based on the clinical data of patients receiving medical inspection and diagnosis at fever clinic, and information of medical staff on board from 20 January to 24 February 2020. The one-stop fever clinic for the prevention of COVID-19 was established, and the standardized pre-check and triage procedure, and the prevention and control strategy were implemented. The working condition and management effect of the fever clinic were retrospectively analyzed. Results A total of 22,382 patients were admitted to the fever clinic, including 1,314 patients receiving the diagnosis and treatment at fever clinic, 94 patients with a recent contact history with people from Hubei Province，52 patients receiving further medical isolation and hospitalization, and 3 confirmed infectious cases through the screening at fever clinic and diagnosis in the infectious department. There were 48 medical staff on duty and all patients had received proper diagnosis and treatment. There were no missed diagnosis, no cross-infection cases between patients and medical staff, and no adverse event of medical care occurred during waiting time, triage and referral. A total of 432 person times among the working staff were supervised and examined during the execution of epidemic prevention and control, and the overall weekly execution accuracy was increased from 93.60% to 99.20%. Conclusion The scientifically built one-stop fever clinic and further standardized pre-check and triage, and epidemic prevention and control strategy are effective for the screening of the suspected cases and infectious cases as early as possible. It could contribute to the early detection, early reporting, early isolation and early treatment for infectious patients, and avoid cross infection and promote infection prevention and control, and treatment.
