Abstract: Objective To establish biological therapy service process for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), meet the treatment needs of patients, ensure medical service quality, and reduce the burden of patients. Methods Based on the theory of business process reengineering, the process of biological therapy service for IBD patients was redesigned through multi-department cooperation, and the reengineering process was applied to some patients chosen as the observation group. Patients received former routine treatment were selected as the control group. Average length of hospital stay, hospitalization cost and satisfaction with medical service were compared in the two groups. Results From April to December 2018, a total of 111 patients received former routine treatment, and 98 patients completed the treatment according to the reconstruction process. The average length of stay was shorter and hospitalization cost except drug cost and testing cost was lower in the observation group (P<0.05). Patients' satisfaction with medical service was significantly improved (P<0.05). Conclusion After the process reengineering of biological therapy service, the treatment time is shortened and patients' financial burden is reduced and patients are more satisfied with the service. Work efficiency and service quality of digestive medicine department are improved, which is conducive to the professional development of IBD specialty.
