Development of Nursing Safety Management Evaluation Scale in Department of Cardiology and Its Reliability and Validity

Abstract: Objective To study the reliability and validity of nursing safety management evaluation scale in department of cardiology. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 366 nurses of cardiology department in Shandong Province by using the convenient sampling method to evaluate the reliability of internal consistency, split-half reliability, content validity and structural validity of the questionnaire. Results The Cronbach&'s α coefficient of the scale was 0.952 and the Cronbach&'s α coefficient of each dimension 0.774~0.917. The results of the spherical test of KMO and Bartlett&'s are suitable for factor analysis; in the factor analysis, 6 factors can explain 70.087% of the total variation; the correlation coefficient between the score of each item and that of its dimension was 0.711~0.916, which was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion The evaluation scale of nursing safety management in cardiology has good reliability and validity, which provides a quantifiable basis for nursing managers to evaluate nursing safety in cardiology.
