Effect of Social Practice in Nursing Students under College-enterprise Cooperation Model

Abstract: Objective To explore the cultivation effect of aged care and nursing talents based on college-enterprise cooperation model and to explore the effect of social practice of students majored in aged care and nursing. Methods Sixty-one students from Guangzhou Health Science College majored in aged care and nursing had social practice in Shunde Shanqi Home for six weeks. Before and after the implementation of the activities, the Caring Ability Inventory and the Kogan's Attitudes towards Older People Scale were used to measure the changes of students' humanistic care ability and their attitude towards elderly people respectively, and a self-designed questionnaire was used to evaluate the effect of social practice after the implementation of the activities. Results The scores of humanistic care ability and attitude towards elderly people of students improved significantly after the practice, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001). More than 78% of the students were satisfied with the effect of the social practice. Conclusion The implementation of social practice could not only help to improve students' professional understanding and employment intention of aged care, but also help to consolidate and expand students' knowledge. At the same time, through such kind of social practie, there are more company and happiness for the elderly living in Shunde Shanqi Home.
