Abstract: Objective To understand the current situation of evidence-based nursing (EBN) ability of surgical nurses in one tertiary grade A hospital in Wuhan and analyze its influencing factors, and to provide scientific basis for the individualized EBN management training program for surgical nurses. Methods With objective sampling method, 210 surgical nurses in one tertiary grade A hospital of Wuhan were selected in June 2018 as the research objects and investigated with the general information questionnaire and Evidence-based Nursing Ability Scale. Multiple stepwise regression analysis was used to analyze the influence factors of EBN. Results The total score of EBN ability of 210 surgical nurses in this group was 47.87±19.84, and the lowest score was 1.50±1.10 from the item of evidence integration ability. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the degree of understanding of evidence-based nursing and research experience were the main factors affecting the total score of EBN ability of surgical nurses(P<0.05) and explained 24.3% of the total variance. Conclusion EBN ability of surgical nurses is at a low level and it is influenced by the degree of understanding of evidence-based nursing and research experience. Stepwise evidence-based nursing training, the role of key members of EBN and reward and punishment policies are critical for the promoting the enthusiasm of nurses participating in EBN training. Meanwhile, personalized training programs and more training opportunities are significant to cultivate the awareness of EBN of surgical nurses and improve their EBN ability.
