Abstract: Objective To investigate the status of stigma in syphilis infection patients and analyze its influence factors. Methods With convenient sampling method, the syphilis infection patients were selected from April 2017 to April 2018 in the outpatient department of the infectious disease department of a tertiary grade A hospital in Sichuan province and they were investigated by using general information questionnaire, Social Impact Scale, Self-esteem Scale and Self-rating Depression Scale. Logistic regression analysis was conducted for the analysis of the influence factors of the stigma of syphilis infection patients. Results The total score of the stigma of syphilis infection patients was 60.23±13.00. Logistic regression analysis showed that being employed or not, and course of disease were the risk factors and education background was the protective factor of the stigma of syphilis infection patients (P<0.05). Conclusion The stigma of patients with syphilis infection is at the mediate or above level. Medical staff in outpatient should pay special attention to the syphilis infection patients with jobs, those with low educational level and those with long course of disease, understand the individualized aspects of the disease, and choose targeted intervention measures to reduce the stigma of the disease and maximize the self recognition of the syphilis infection patients.
