Construction of competency evaluation index system of clinical nursing faculty of traditional Chinese medicine nurse specialists: a stakeholder perspective

Abstract: Objective To construct a competency evaluation index system for clinical nursing faculty of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nurse specialists. Methods From the stakeholder perspective, the competency evaluation index system for clinical nursing faculty of TCM nurse specialists were constructed after literature review, semi-structured interviews, behavioral event interviews, and expert letter consultation. Results This study developed 4 first-level and 55 third-level indexes based on literature review and semi-structured interviews. It also identified 10 discriminative competencies and 6 basic competencies through behavioral event interviews. Authority coefficients of the two rounds of expert correspondence were 0.862 and 0.884, respectively, and Kendall coordination coefficients of the three-level indicators ranged from 0.238 to 0.412 (all P<0.01). The final competency evaluation index system for clinical nursing faculty of TCM nurse specialists consisted of 6 first-level, 17 second-level, and 68 third-level indicators. Conclusion The competency evaluation index system for clinical nursing faculty of TCM nurse specialists has fully considered the needs of stakeholders, and it is scientific and comprehensive. However, its reliability and validity need to be further tested.
