Abstract: Objective To investigate the knowledge and practice of nurses on deep vein thrombosis (DVT) risk and prophylaxis. Methods Convenient sampling was used to select 959 clinical nurses from 3 tertiary hospitals in Zhejiang province from May and June 2022. Nurses were investigated by using the Chinese version of Knowledge and Practice of Nurses on DVT Risk and Prophylaxis. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors. Results The score of nurses' knowledge on DVT risk was 29.75±3.10, with an overall accuracy rate of 87.5%. The score of nurses' practice of DVT prophylaxis was 69.08±7.82. Multiple linear regression showed that education background, classification of nursing levels, clinical departments, previous DVT-related training type, and need for further training on DVT were influencing factors of nurses' risk knowledge of DVT (P<0.001). While nurses' practice of DVT prophylaxis were influenced by clinical departments, previous DVT-related training, DVT-related training type, and training effect assessment(P<0.001). Conclusion The recruited nurses' knowledge and practice on DVT risk and prophylaxis are generally good, but they have inadequate knowledge on DVT risk factors. Education background, classification of nursing levels, clinical departments, previous DVT-related training type, and training effect assessment are influence factors. Strengthened nurses' knowledge on DVT risk factors, and improved DVT prevention system and training effect are beneficial to promote the knowledge and practice of nurses on DVT risk and prophylaxis.
