Development and Application of Smart Emergency Triage System

Abstract: Objective To explore a smart emergency triage system in emergency department. Methods With convenient sampling, 400 patients in emergency department of one tertiary grade A hospital were selected as the observation objects and they were divided into control group (conventional triage group, n=200) and observation group (triage group with smart triage system, n=200). Condition assessment time, triage time, excessive triage rate and patients' satisfaction with the triage between the two groups were compared. Results There were shorter time of data collection and triage and lower rate of excessive triage in the observation group, indicating statistical significance (P<0.05). Totally 196 patients in the observation group were satisfied with the triage while 40 not. The difference in satisfaction degree showed statistical significance(P<0.05). Conclusion In emergency department, with the developed smart emergency triage system, emergency triage process is optimized, which helps to quickly classify patients' conditions, thus to reduce triage time and improve working efficiency and patients' satisfaction in emergency department.
