Abstract: Objective To develop and test the reliability and validity of a knowledge-belief-practice questionnaire for nurses to promote physical activity in cancer survivors. Methods Based on the KAP theory, the draft questionnaire was developed after literature review, guideline review, brainstorming, expert consultation and pilot survey. With convenient sampling, 553 nurses from oncology-related departments were selected and investigated to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. Results The questionnaire consisted of 30 items covering 3 dimensions: knowledge, belief and practice. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the total questionnaire was 0.950; the split-half reliability coefficient 0.682, and the retest reliability 0.900. Exploratory factor analysis extracted 3 common factors, which could explain 58.252% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the fitting index of the scale structure model was good:χ2/df=2.395,RMSEA=0.073,NFI=0.849,IFI=0.906,TLI=0.897,CFI=0.906. Content validity analysis showed that I-CVI was 0.833~1.000; S-CVI/Ave 0.969; and S-CVI/UA 0.800. Conclusion The questionnaire has good reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate the knowledge, belief and practice of oncology nurses to promote physical activity of cancer survivors in China.
