Nursing of Penile Cancer Patients with Healing by Second Intention after Inguinal Lymph Node Dissection through Vacuum-assisted Sealing Drainage

Abstract: Objective To summarize the nursing experience of 9 penile cancer patients with healing by second intention after inguinal lymph node dissection through vacuum-assisted sealing drainage and to provide reference for improving the nursing quality in clinical practice. Methods Continuous drainage tube with negative pressure, wound observation and nursing, observation of drainage tube and the prevention of complications were all conducive to the recovery of the patients. Results All the 8 patients discharged after the treatment with continuous drainage tube with negative pressure for 10 to 25 d (mean:16d) and wounds healed well and no complication was observed. No flap transfer or skin-grafting was needed. One patient discharged with tube due to endolymphatic leakage and the follow-up one week after discharge showed that no complication was found and the tube was removed. Conclusion Being efficient and practical, vacuum-assisted sealing drainage is beneficial to promoting wound healing for penile cancer patients with healing by second intention after inguinal lymph node dissection.
