Abstract: Objective To systematically integrate self-management experience of patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods We searched CNKI, Wanfang, Vip databases, China Biomedical Bibliographic databases (CBM), Web of Science, PubMed and the Cochrane Library from the inception to March 2020, to include qualitative studies on self-management experience of patients with GDM. The quality of the literature was evaluated by the quality evaluation standard of qualitative research of the JBI Evidence-Based Health Care Center. Meta-integration method was used to integrate and analyze the literature. Results A total of 12 articles were included and 45 research results were summarized into 16 categories, forming 3 integrated results: post-diagnosis response, problems in self-management, and reasons for gradual adaptation. Conclusion Patients with GDM have obstacles in self-management coming from themselves, family, society and other aspects during pregnancy. It is necessary for family and social members to pay more attention to patients and the diseases, and to support and supervise the management of patients. Medical staff should understand the mental state and confusion of patients, and provide personalized follow-up and guidance for different patients.
