Effect of “Dancing For Birth” on Labor Pain and Sense of Labor Self-control for Primiparas

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of “Dancing For Birth” on labor pain and sense of labor self-control in primiparas. Methods A total of 170 primiparas were divided into two groups when they were parturient in active phrase. Women in the experiment group performed “Dancing For Birth” with the support of their partner and a midwife, which were instructed to do relaxation, standing upright with pelvic tilt and rock their hips back and forth or around in a circle every hours for a minimum of 30 minutes. While those in the control group received routine care and had their own position during labor, accompanied by relatives. Women were investigated by NRS before the intervention, 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes after the intervention. Labour Agentry Scale(LAS) was also investigated. Results The scores of labor pain in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes after the intervention (P<0.05), but the score of LAS was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion “Dancing For Birth” can reduce labor pain and improve primiparas' sense of labor self-control.
