Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) on anxiety, depression and level of hope in patients with cerebral hemorrhage. Methods One hundred patients with cerebral hemorrhage in department of neurosurgery in Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology from January 2018 to April 2019 were randomly divided into two groups, with 50 in each group. The control group received routine nursing and the intervention group SFBT in addition to routine nursing for one course of treatment. Zung's Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Zung's Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) and Herth Hope Index (HHI) were used to compare the differences in anxiety, depression and level of hope between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results After the intervention, the total scores of SAS and SDS in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group. The scores of the level of hope, positive behavior, behavioral attitude and positive relationship were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The scores of SAS and SDS in the intervention group were lower after the intervention, but those of level of hope and positive behavior, behavioral attitude and positive relationship were higher after the intervention (P<0.05). The scores of SAS and SDS in the control group were slightly lower after the intervention but the score of level of hope increased moderately (both P<0.05). Conclusion SFBT can effectively improve anxiety and depression of patients, improve their level of hope, and reduce or eliminate the physical and mental trauma caused by the disease.

Key words: solution focused brief therapy, cerebral hemorrhage, anxiety, depression, hope level
