Mediating Effect of Inner Peace between Self-acceptance and Happiness in Elderly patients with Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract: Objective To analyze the mediating effect of inner peace between self-acceptance and happiness in elderly patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods A total of 289 elderly patients with CHD were selected as research objects through convenient sampling method in our hospital from January 2019 to January 2020.They were surveyed by general information questionnaire, Memorial University of New-found Land Scale of Happiness, Inner Peace State Scale and Self-acceptance Questionnaire. The mediating effect of inner peace between self-acceptance and happiness was verified through multiple linear regression.The difference of mediating effect of high and low inner peace between high self-acceptance, low self-acceptance respectively and happiness were analyzed through simple slope test.Johnson-Neyman technique was used to analyze the boundary value of the mediating effect of inner peace between self-acceptance and happiness. Results The total score of happiness was 25.94±4.22. The score of self-acceptance was 23.15±4.35 and that of inner peace was 13.12±3.58 in elderly patients with CHD. There was mediating effect of inner peace between self-acceptance and happiness(β=0.108, P<0.05). Simple slope test showed that there was statistical significance in the prediction slope of self -acceptance to happiness under low inner peace(β=0.336, P<0.001). Johnson-Neyman technique showed that the boundary value of regulatory effect of inner peace was 8.44. Conclusion There is mediating effect of inner peace between self-acceptance and happiness in elderly patients with CHD and we should take active intervention measures to improve inner peace of elderly patients with CHD.
