Abstract

Objective To investigate parenting stress among nurses working night shift and analyze its influencing factors. Methods From April to May 2024, 245 night-shift nurses raising preschool-age children aged 3 to 6 years old in five tertiary grade-A hospitals in Shaanxi Province were selected by convenience sampling, and they were surveyed using the General Information Questionnaire, Nurse Parenting Stress Scale, Work-Family Conflict Scale, Nurse Sense of Organizational Support Scale, and Simple Coping Styles Scale. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of parenting stress among nurses working night shift. Results The score of parenting stress in nurses working night shift was 51.28±9.49, and multiple linear regression analysis showed that work-family conflict and sense of organizational support entered the regression equation (P<0.05), explaining 63.0% of the total variance in the model. Conclusion Parenting stress of nurses working night shift is at a moderate level, and work-family conflict and sense of organizational support are the main influencing factors. All-round childcare support and less work-family conflicts help nurses balance their professional and personal life and thereby reduce their parenting stress.
