Relationship among Humanistic Care Ability, Perceived Professional Benefits and Subjective Well-being of Nursing Undergraduates

Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship among the humanistic care ability of nursing undergraduates, perceived professional benefits and subjective well-being (SWB). Methods Ninety-four nursing undergraduates in a tertiary grade A hospital were surveyed by using the general information questionnaire, Caring Ability Inventory, the Nursing Students' Perceived Professional Benefits Questionnaire, and General Well-being Schedule (GWBS). Results The total score of humanistic care was 193.79±23.97, showing a medium level of humanistic care ability. The total score of perceived professional benefits and SWB was 125.83±15.00 and 83.28±13.11 respectively. The humanistic care ability was significantly positively correlated with perceived professional benefits and SWB(r=0.611~0.711, all P<0.01). Conclusion Nursing managers and educators can improve humanities care ability of nursing undergraduates by improving perceived professional benefits and SWB, then improve the quality of care services.
